Camping and Group 1 and Group 2 trips July 23rd and 24th

NOTE:  The weather for this weekend is supposed to be bad in the St. Elmo area.  If there is rain, we will most likely not take the Grizzly Lake or Iron Chest trails.  If not, we will do another trail in the same area that won't be as difficult in bad weather.  Additionaly, because of the high altitude of the Mount Antero trip, we may do something at a lower elevation depending on the weather.  These will be decisions made at the meeting place in St. Elmo on Saturday.

We will have a unified camping trip on the 23rd and on the 24th we will have both Group 1 and Group 2 trips.

Camping will be near St. Elmo ghost town and the exact location will be shared as soon as a place is picked.

Group 1 will take the trail up Mount AnteroThis trail is a steep, rocky climb with many narrow switchbacks that ends just below the peak at an elevation of 13,700 feet.  Stunning views along the trail and at the top  The group will depart from the parking area on the east end of St. Elmo at 9:00.  Leaders will be Kirk and Jim

Group 2 will go on the VERY difficult Grizzly Lake and Iron Chest trails.   The group will depart from the parking area on the east end of St. Elmo at 9:00.  Your leaders will be Keith and Dan.   We recommend at least 35 inch tires and lockers in order to go on these trails.

If you want to drive from Colorado Springs as a group, you can meet Jim at the Safeway on West Colorado Ave. at 6:30.
